MAD for Vets — Founder
Melanie founded MAD for Vets, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports veteran nonprofits across Greater Houston and hosts real estate and financial education classes specifically for veterans. Because knowing how to use your VA benefits shouldn't require a real estate agent to explain it — but Melanie will anyway.
Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans — President
Melanie currently serves as President of the Rotary Club of Greater Houston Veterans at Rotary International District 5890 — leading a club whose service activities include planting and maintaining the Hope Garden at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, placing over 200 American flags at the hospital each Veterans Day and Memorial Day, participating in Flags for Fallen Vets and Wreaths Across America at the National VA Cemetery, and coordinating Operation Turkey meal delivery across Greater Houston.
Operation Turkey — District Co-Chair & Katy Site Director
Melanie serves as District Co-Chair at the Rotary International District 5890 level and Site Director for the Katy location of Operation Turkey — one of the largest veteran and military family Thanksgiving initiatives in the region. In 2025, the program delivered over 14,000 meals across four locations, with the Katy site exceeding its goal by 500 meals. This is not a once-a-year photo opportunity — it is a year-round logistical commitment that Melanie leads at both the district and local level.
Richard A. Anderson Home for Veterans — Active Service Member
Melanie and the MAD Properties Group team visit the Richard A. Anderson Home for Veterans regularly throughout the year — hosting Easter and Christmas parties, providing food, toiletries, snacks, books, clothing, and bodega supplies, and sitting with residents to hear their stories. Melanie is also an active participant in the Veterans History Project — interviewing willing residents and submitting their firsthand recollections of military service to the United States Library of Congress for permanent preservation, ensuring that the stories of Greater Houston's veterans are never lost.
The Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress collects, preserves, and makes accessible the firsthand recollections of U.S. military veterans who served from World War I through recent conflicts and peacekeeping missions, so that future generations may hear directly from veterans and better understand what they saw, did, and felt during their service.
